We’re growing. Quickly. In the last three years alone we have commissioned 16 new Extra Care schemes that provide quality housing and care for older people of modest means. We’re constantly looking for ways to make things better, always putting our residents and people at the heart of what we do, which is why we’ve created brand new roles to allow Extra Care to thrive.

We have big ambitions and are looking for superstars to help us realise them.

As Head of Extra Care Operations you will be a key member of the Extra Care senior leadership team. Your focus will be on providing strategic leadership and direction in the effective operations of Extra Care services. Reporting to the Managing Director of Extra Care, you will be responsible for leading a team of regional senior managers to successfully deliver strategic objectives through operational delivery and performance.

You will be accountable for the performance and potential within their regions and will play a pivotal role in the overall success of Extra Care, including taking the lead in wider initiatives and projects.

What we’re looking for

The essential requirements for the role include:

  • Experience of working at a senior level within a complex organisation
  • Experience of working within the regulated environments of older people’s housing and/or social care
  • Experience in defining and implementing best practice, performance improvements and service solutions
  • Experience of inspiring and leading large, dispersed teams to meet challenging performance targets
  • Experience of strategic planning and project management to deliver service improvements, benefiting both the customer and employees.
  • Degree level education combined with additional management/professional qualifications or a commitment to further learning and personal development

In addition, you will hold strong influencing and positioning skills with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively and network at all levels to reach effective outcomes and shared commitment. You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce informative, relevant, and user-friendly reports for Board and Executive level.

We want to hear from people who are passionate about service improvement and quality that is ‘better than good’. If you’re highly organised, delivery and service-focused and able to manage multiple priorities, check out the full job profile.

At Housing 21 we pride ourselves on being passionate about people and are committed to investing in those who work for us to help them to be the best they can be.

When you work for us, you will be joining an organisation that holds the Investors in People Platinum standard and was rated the UK’s third Best Place to Work in 2024 by Glassdoor.  Our people are our foundation, and we know how important it is to support them to do what they do best, whether through flexible working, learning new skills or being part of a friendly and supportive workplace culture.  You shouldn’t have to choose between a career and care, and we want to support you to advance your career with us, which is why we have a dedicated learning pathway through our Extra Care Academy that could lead to future roles with salaries of £50,000!
